The International Geothermal Association (IGA) is a non-profit, educational and non-governmental organization. It’s secretariat and mailing adresses are located at the Hague, Netherlands, The Netherlands. Founded in 1988, it has more than 3000 members in 65 countries. Their goal is to promote the research and development of geothermal resources in power generation and direct utilization, and encourage the research, development and utilization of geothermal resources through the editing and dissemination of scientific and technical data and information, the exchange between geothermal experts and geothermal management institutions. The right to host the world geothermal congress (WGC) is applied to IGA by non-governmental geothermal institutions of various countries.
